Allegations of vote inducement surfaced Saturday at a polling unit in Kwali, where some residents refused to cast their ballots unless they received money.
At LEA Primary School, Kilankwa Ward, groups of accredited voters, mostly women, were seen lingering around the polling unit as of 11:30am, insisting they would not vote without financial incentives.
They argued that previous elections had yielded little improvement in their living conditions, expressing doubts that voting alone would bring change.
No specific amount was mentioned, but a party agent of the Peoples Democratic Party alleged that money was being distributed at the polling unit and claimed some individuals collected cash from multiple parties without voting.
At Polling Unit 004 in Unguwan Hussaini Wanzami 1, Abaji, a voter, Haruna Saidu, said poor infrastructure remained the community’s major concern.
The truck driver urged whoever emerged as chairman to prioritise potable water and electricity, lamenting that residents had endured years of neglect without meaningful intervention.
