The Katsina State Police Command says it has foiled a bandit attack and killed two suspected bandits in Dandume Local Government Area of the state.
This was disclosed in a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abubakar Sadiq, and made available to journalists on Wednesday in Katsina.
According to the statement, “On 17 February 2025, at about 0045hrs, information was received at the Dandume Divisional Police Headquarters that suspected armed bandits, shooting sporadically, attacked Gidan Soda village in Dandume LGA, where they fatally shot one Hassana Muhammad, female, aged 30, before the arrival of security operatives.

“Upon receipt of the report, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) swiftly mobilised operatives who, in collaboration with the military and members of the Katsina State Community Watch Corps (KSCWC), responded to the scene. The team engaged the hoodlums in a gun battle, successfully foiling the attack as the suspects fled due to superior firepower.
“While combing the area, the bodies of two neutralised suspected bandits and one Boxer motorcycle were recovered. Efforts are ongoing to apprehend the fleeing suspects as investigations continue.”
The statement added that the Commissioner of Police, Katsina State Command, CP Bello Shehu, commended the operatives for their professionalism and bravery during the operation.
He reiterated the command’s commitment, in collaboration with other security agencies, to ensuring the safety and security of residents across the state.
