Nyesom Wike, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has assured residents that political activities ahead of the 2027 general elections will not hinder the delivery of ongoing infrastructure projects in Abuja.
The assurance came during his inspection of several key projects across the FCT on Wednesday.
Wike emphasised that he can manage both political engagements and ministerial responsibilities without compromising service delivery.
“Politics will not affect my work. The only way it will affect work is by making people happy and ensuring that the Renewed Hope Agenda is real and working,” Wike said.
During the inspections, the Minister expressed satisfaction with the construction of the road connecting Baze University, Body of Benchers, Nile University, and the Wupa Light Rail Station in Idu, noting that the contractor has committed to completing the project by May.
The road is scheduled for inauguration to mark the third anniversary of President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
Wike also assessed the progress of the Body of Benchers extension building, which he said is about 80 per cent complete, with only landscaping remaining.
Additionally, the Minister reviewed the construction of a 7km road linking Airport Road to Tunga Madaki and surrounding communities, reiterating that the project aligns with the FCTA’s commitment to improving connectivity within the FCT.
He further directed that the process of linking the road to Zuba should commence immediately.
