Olavokere Jamala, the Councilor representing Ward 10 in the Abua/Odual Legislative Council, has launched an empowerment scheme aimed at supporting rural farmers and boosting agriculture in his ward.
Jamala, who is also the Deputy Leader of the Legislative Council announced the scheme when he visited Okolomade and Emelego communities, which make up the Ward 10, at the weekend.
Speaking during the visit, Jamala revealed that the initiative was part of the Uru-Odighi Agenda of the Abua/Odual local government chairman, Owolobi Ofori.
“The scheme aims to support 15 dedicated members of the Renewed Hope Coalition in Okolomade and Emelego with N10,000 each, every month until the end of my tenure. The support is specifically for bush clearing to aid rural farmers,” he said.
Presenting envelopes to the first set of beneficiaries, the Deputy Leader expressed gratitude to God and the Henry Ogiri-led Leadership in Abua/Odual LGA, for giving him the opportunity to serve his people.
On his part, Okpokipoy Peters, Leader of the Renewed Hope Rainbow Coalition in Ward 10, thanked Jamala for the initiative. He stated that this would boost agricultural activities in the communities and improve the livelihoods of the beneficiaries.
The beneficiaries expressed gratitude to the Deputy Leader for his efforts to support rural farmers.
