The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested Samha Inuwa, a popular Kannywood actress, over allegations of naira mutilation, following the circulation of a viral video on social media.
The anti-graft agency confirmed that Inuwa was arrested on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, by operatives of its Kano Zonal Directorate after a video surfaced online allegedly showing the actress using naira notes to clean mucus from her nose.
According to the EFCC, the video triggered an immediate investigation, prompting officials to track and apprehend the actress to respond to questions regarding the incident.

In a statement issued by Dele Oyewale, agency’s Head of Media and Publicity, the Commission said Inuwa is currently in custody while investigations continue.
“The Kano Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, arrested Kannywood star, Samha Inuwa, over alleged naira mutilation,” the statement read.
It added that the arrest followed a viral social media clip where the actress was allegedly seen mishandling the Nigerian currency, an act considered an offence under Nigerian law.
The EFCC reiterated that abuse or mutilation of the naira, including spraying, defacing, or using it for purposes considered disrespectful, contravenes the provisions of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Act.
The Commission further disclosed that the actress would be arraigned in court upon the conclusion of investigations.
