The AbalaOhazu community, the indigenous people of Aba, in Aba South Local Government Area of Abia State, Tuesday passed a vote of confidence in Governor Alex Otti for restoring public confidence in government in the state.
Stakeholders, comprising traditional rulers, president generals, village heads, women and youth leaders of the 13-communities of AbalaOhazu, in Aba South LGA, in a communique issued after its meeting, held at the popular Aba Town Hall, praised Governor Otti for rebuilding Aba. Anyanwu Obilor, Mayor of Aba South LGA, who chaired the meeting, said that Governor Otti has restored the dignity of Aba people and Abians at large, noting that he deserves all the commendation that he is getting from the people. According to Obilor, the meeting was convened to generate support for Governor Alex Otti. “You could see the large turnout and massive support they have shown to Governor Alex Otti.
“In one-day, Governor Otti commissioned nine road projects in Aba South Local Government Area. He is worthy of all the praises and love he is receiving from the people. “We know the security situation of Aba before Governor Otti came into office, but now people can move from the beginning of Port Harcourt Road to the end, on a good lighted road and without being molested. “Night life has improved, health centres, schools are being renovated. Your child, not being in school today in Abia, is not because you don’t have money, as primary school is free, and the best teachers are in public schools.
“Recently, West Indian Ocean Cable Company (WIOCC), Africa’s leading provider of interconnected, carrier-scale digital infrastructure in partnership with the Abia State Government, flagged off the Abia State Duct Infrastructure Project. “The groundbreaking ceremony, which was held at the Aba Town Hall, marked the commencement of a transformative infrastructure project designed to expand broadband access, enhance digital inclusion and improve last-mile connectivity across Abia State.”
According to the Aba South Mayor, If that project is realised, “I can stay in my house and do international business. “Aba is now a 16 to 17 hours economy, before it wasn’t up to 8 hours. Before joining this meeting, I went to Ariaria International Market and you can see the massive influx of patrons into Aba. Aba road network has also improved, which is attracting more patrons into the city.”
Obilor said that 2027 is a year that the people of Aba and Ohazu intend to positively affect the political landscape of Aba South.
“We are promising a 6-digit election result from Aba South for Governor Alex Otti. It has not happened before and what we are witnessing under his administration is unprecedented and we are going to give him a result that has not happened before in our locality.” Eze Onyebuchi Ugwuzor, chairman, Aba South Traditional Rulers Council, thanked Governor Otti for rebuilding Port Harcourt and Ohanku Roads, as well as the ongoing rehabilitation of Obohia Road, all in Aba South LGA. Chidinma Nwogu, a retired permanent secretary and former commissioner in the State, said that Governor Otti loves Aba people and urged all indigens of Aba to continue to support him, to realise all his good plans for the people of Aba and Abia State.
For Chibundu Nwandu, youth leader, Etiti Ohazu community, Governor Otti has done well under 3 years in office and deserves a 2nd term. “On behalf of AbalaOhazu youths, we endorse him for re-election.”
