In a heartwarming display of community spirit, The Christ Hope Church concluded its end-of-year Hunger Relief Program for POWA (Police Officers’ Wives Association) on thursday December 18th, an initiative that was pioneered in August and has become a monthly program.
The event, held at the POWA secretariat in Ikeja, saw the distribution of food items to 1,000 police officers’ wives, bringing joy and hope to families in need.
The program was part of the church’s initiative to spread love and kindness during the yuletide season. Beneficiaries received packs of rice, beans, Garri, and other essentials, carefully curated to nourish their families.
The OVL Foundation, headed by Omobolanle Victor Laniyan, played a huge and significant role in the provision of the food packages to the participants ensuring the success of the initiative. Lucy Keji, CEO of JC Aesthetics Clinic also partnered with the church to conduct a free basic medical fair for attendees, offering check-ups, screenings, and consultations.
The Chairperson of POWA, Risqat Oluwatoyin Jimoh, wife of the Commissioner of Police Force, Lagos State, graced the occasion, expressing heartfelt appreciation to Christ Hope Church for the thoughtful gesture. “This initiative has brought immense joy to our members, and we’re grateful for your kindness,” she said.
The event featured inspiring sessions, including a mental health talk led by Tunde Ayanyemi, a clinical psychologist at LUTH, and breast cancer awareness by Nkechi Merry, a senior nursing practitioner in the UK. The women learned valuable tips on self-care and prevention.
The program was made vibrant with music, prayer sessions, and fun games, culminating in cash gifts for participants. Attendees left uplifted, grateful, and with big smiles.
Global Lead Pastor Moses Abiola emphasized the church’s commitment to uplifting vulnerable groups. “We’re celebrating these incredible women who’ve stood by their husbands in service to the nation,” he said. “This is just a small token of our appreciation.”
The Christ Hope Church’s humanitarian efforts are part of its broader mission to impact lives and communities.
