Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State has flagged off the construction of 94.48km of roads across six local government areas of the state.
The official groundbreaking ceremony, held at Lanzai in Gamawa LGA, saw the governor urge contractors to adhere strictly to project specifications and deliver the roads within the stipulated timeframe.
The newly approved projects include the 24km Lanzai–Papa Road; 14.44km Misau–Beti–Maladumba Road; 28km Gamawa–Sakwa Road; 14.75km Dargazu–Gambaki–Chinade–Gangai Road; 6.68km Yana–Faggo Road; and the 6.6km Giade–Tagwaye Road.
According to the governor, the construction of the six major rural roads under the Rural Access and Agricultural Marketing Project (RAAMP) marks a significant step toward improving rural infrastructure and strengthening agricultural productivity across the state.
He said the roads were carefully selected based on their economic importance and the pressing needs of the benefiting communities.
Mohammed added that the RAAMP projects are designed to reduce transportation constraints, boost agricultural activities, and increase the income-generating capacity of rural households.
He emphasised that improved access roads will reduce post-harvest losses and enhance trade between rural and urban markets.
