The Yetunde Ilori-led Chartered Insurance Institute of Nigeria (CIIN) has taken a bold step that would draw Nigerians closer to insurance through an activity-packed event tagged ‘Insurance Week 2025’.
The celebration, designed to promote insurance awareness, stakeholder engagement and industry collaboration, is a seven-day event packed with awareness, innovation, and transformation in Nigeria’s insurance sector.
It will take place from June 28-July 4, 2025, in Lagos, and hold simultaneously in Ibadan, Abuja, Port Harcourt and Kano.
The event, themed “Insurance For All: Securing Nigeria’s Future,” will commence with an insurance awareness walk, while the formal ceremony will follow on June 30 at the Nigerian Insurers House in Lagos.
Other activities will be an insurance awareness campaign to selected secondary schools and Micro Small and Medium Enterprises MSMEs), as well as Insurance Outreach at selected markets including Sabo Market, Oyingbo Market, Bariga Market, Shoprite and Spar.
While the hackathon competition is billed to take place at the College of Insurance and Financial Management (CIFM) at Asese, Ogun, and subsequently, the grand finale.

Yetunde Ilori, who highlighted the activities of the event in a virtual meeting, said it is an initiative of the Institute, designed to promote insurance awareness, stakeholder engagement and industry collaboration.
Ilori said the celebrations would hold at the same period in Ibadan, Abuja, Port Harcourt and Kano, adding that the insurance industry would leverage the event to reward Nigerians by giving awards to people who have been promoting insurance culture.
Earlier in his Remarks, Eddie Efekoha, chairman of the Insurance Week Organising Committee, called on all stakeholders in the insurance industry to support the initiative, which he said is aimed at growing insurance business and deepening penetration.
Segun Bankole, chairman of the Corporate Affairs Managers of Nigeria Insurance Association (CAMCONIA), in his remarks, said the Insurance Week will be a pivotal platform for the insurance industry in Nigeria to showcase the importance of insurance to the everyday life of every Nigerian, wherever they are located.
He said the insurance Week will provide the various brands in the Nigerian insurance industry to put on display their various offerings and the value they can create for their customers in any part of the country.
“It is an opportunity to flaunt their brands in a very unique, competitive and cooperative manner while engendering the growth of the insurance industry in the country and possibly, beyond.”
