The African Democratic Congress (ADC) Borno State Chapter has announced its readiness to commence membership registration after settling its internal disputes, with a view to wresting power from the ruling party in the state ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Umar Bolori, the State Chairman of ADC, made this known during a press briefing on Tuesday evening in Maiduguri.
Business Day had earlier reported that the party in the State disassociated itself from the “Transitional and Registration committees”, allegedly set up by one of its chieftains, Kashim Imam.
Recently, Bolori, while addressing newsmen at the time, described Imam’s Committees as “political jobbers” who were out to infiltrate the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The chairman further declared and acknowledged the legitimacy of the transitional and registration committees.
“On this note, we officially recognise and accept the inaugurated state transitional committee under the leadership of Alhaji Ali Bukar Wurge and the registration committee under the leadership of Peter Biya accordingly.
“We are ready to take over the state, and that’s why we are appealing to all our stakeholders and supporters to be law-abiding and vigilant. I can tell you that ADC is a party for women and youths. We are united and one big family,” he assured.
Bolori urged all party members and stakeholders to support the committees in carrying out their mandates.
“I want to use this opportunity to inform our party supporters that by next week, we are going to start our membership registration exercise. We urge everyone to participate in the voter registration,” he noted.

However, the party chairman on Tuesday described his actions as errors, while apologising to Imam and the party’s national leaders.
He said, “I am here to set some records straight in our great party, ADC in Borno State. You may wish to recall that on 12th of January, 2026, I addressed our party’s national leaders, state stakeholders, and the general members of the party on serious allegations, misconducts and irreconcillable differences.
“Therefore, following a series of meetings and holistic reconciliations, we were informed that we had acted in error. Hence, we apologise to our national party leaders, particularly Kashim Ibrahim Imam, and pledge our loyalty to him in the interest of our party and the general party members.”
