Yakubu Lawi Sumi, chairman of Bogoro Local Government Area of Bauchi State, has said the council would partner the State House Assembly to ensure that government policies and programmes were achieved.
The council boss said this during the visitation of the Bauchi State House Committee on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs at his local government Secretariat Office, Bogoro.
He expressed his appreciation on behalf of the local government to House Committee members for their visitation to check government projects in the local government area.
Sumi further said that his administration was high on transparency, service delivery, and inclusive governance, adding that all ongoing and completed projects are geared toward improving the welfare of residents and promoting sustainable growth. He stated that his administration was committed to completing people-centered projects, regardless of origin.
The council boss said that within the short period he has been in office, he has been able to rehabilitate 99 boreholes, distribute fertilisers to farmers, built guest house, sponsored students in some institutions across the state, purchased 15 bikes to all the 13 ward councillors, including PA and SA, two 406 vehicles, renovated the Chairman house, constructed shops at livestock market, among others.
He assured the House Committee that all available resources would be channelled to development, reinforcing the council’s dedication to improving the livelihood of the people.
The local government Chairman thanked the state Governor, Bala Mohammed Abdulkadir for enabling the developmental programmes and projects aimed at alleviating the people’s hardship and release of fund for projects in Bogoro.
On his part, the chairman House committee on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Dan Bala Abdullahi said that they were in Bogoro Local Government to supervise and monitor projects executed both by the state and local government.
Abdullahi, who is a member representing Duguri/Gwana, said that their visitation also aimed at encouraging efficiency and ensuring the councils remained accountable to the people.
The House Committee chairman, who was represented by his Deputy, Abdullahi Yusuf Itas who is representing the people of Itas-Gadau in the Bauchi State House of Assembly, expressed the House’s satisfaction with the level of development in the local government.
The House Committee was also able to inspect projects including the remodeling and reconstruction of LGA chairman official house, ongoing village head’s Palace, Local Government guest house, repaired damaged culvert at Dutsen Lawan, lock up shops at cattle market Kalambu, and other infrastructure built by the state and local government.
