The Election Petitions Tribunal sitting in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, has nullified the National Assembly election of Kolapo Osunsanya, member of House of Representatives, representing Ijebu Central Federal Constituency over the irregularities recorded in election held on February 23rd, 2019.
The election that brought Osunsanya in as member of House of Representatives was nullified following the petition filed by Taiwo Shore, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, challenging Osunsanya’s declaration as the winner of the election by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for the February 23rd, 2019 election.
Kolapo Korede Osunsanya, a member of the All Progressives Congress was on Monday sacked by the Justice Wakkil Alkali Gana-led election petitions tribunal and ordered rerun in the three wards where irregularities were recorded during the election within 90 days.
BusinessDay reports that the tribunal cancelled the votes from Ward 5, Unit 5 in Ijebu-Ode Local Government Area; Ward 10, Unit 3 in Odogbolu Local Government and the entire Ward 8 in Ijebu-North Local Government, all in the Ijebu Central Federal Constituency has three local government areas, namely, Ijebu-Ode, Odogbolu and Ijebu North-East as its jurisdiction.
