Tribunal dismisses Otti’s petition, affirms Ikpeazu as winner
The Governorship Election Petition tribunal sitting in Umuahia, Abia State, has dismissed petition filed by Alex Otti of All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) challenging the election of Okezie Ikpeazu of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) for lack of merit.
Bwala Usman, chairman of the tribunal, said the petition filed by Otti, bordering on irregularities and criminality, could not be proved beyond reasonable doubt and therefore, was dismissed for lack of merit.
Ikpeazu, while reacting to the verdict of the tribunal, said it has proved his victory right, since he was declared winner in the month of April 2015. “The victory has given me further impetus to develop Abia to the next level,” Ikpeazu enthused.
He called on all aggrieved parties to join hands with him to develop Abia to the next level, adding that the victory is for all Abians.
