Vehicular traffic flow at the Costain axis, in Lagos, is set to worsen as the Federal Government has announced partial closure of the road to enable contractors to complete the new flyover bridge being constructed to replace the one to be pulled down.
Ademola Kuti, federal controller of works in charge of Lagos, who announced the partial road closure, said it would start from Thursday, October 3 and last till December 3, 2019, to facilitate the completion of the ongoing construction of the bridge.
As a result, the federal ministry of works and housing in collaboration with Lagos State has issued travel advice to motorists passing through Costain as follows:
“Motorists driving from Funsho Williams Avenue (Western Avenue) to Apapa Road, Iganmu/Apapa
should make use of Alaka to Eric Moore to Abebe Village (Nigerian Breweries) and continue their journey.
Motorists from Funsho Williams Avenue to Lagos Island should use Eko Bridge to connect Ijora Olopa or Apongbon.
Motorists from Orile to Lagos should use Iganmu Road to connect Eko Bridge through Costain.
Also, motorists coming from the Lagos Island that have no business in Costain and its environs can make use of Eko Bridge to Funsho Williams Avenue.
However, for motorists wanting to connect Costain Roundabout Alaka, Ebute Metta, they should use Apapa Road to Abule Nla Road to connect Funsho Williams Avenue by Leadway Assurance building and continue their journey while those going to Ebute Metta can make use of Apapa Road to connect Oyingbo and continue their journey.
The traffic advice further urged motorists to connect Oyingbo via Idoo to connect Ebute Meta.
From Lagos Island to Iganmu Road, Orile, Apapa; motorists can make use of Costain to connect Iganmu and continue their journey respectively.
The officials pleaded for the co-operation and understanding of the motoring public during this construction exercise.
