Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin says President Bola Tinubu has demonstrated goodwill toward Kano state and will, in turn, enjoy overwhelming support from its people during the 2027 elections.
Jibrin spoke in Abuja on Thursday after a closed-door meeting of All Progressives Congress (APC) stakeholders from Kano.
The gathering was attended by Abdullahi Ganduje, former APC national chairman; Abdullahi Atta, minister of state for housing; Senator Kawu Sumaila; Abubakar Bichi, chairman of the house committee on appropriation; former governor Kabiru Gaya; and several serving and former lawmakers.
“We are solidly behind him because he loves us,” Jibrin said. “He has given us institutions of higher learning, development projects and other initiatives. We have urged our people to continue supporting the president and the APC and to pray for our nation.”
Jibrin said the stakeholders reviewed the party’s standing in Kano and across Nigeria and agreed that the APC was “growing from strength to strength.” He credited Tinubu with federal appointments and projects in the state, particularly in the north, which he said had boosted the party’s profile.

Ganduje, who also spoke after the meeting, insisted the APC in Kano remained strong despite losing the 2023 governorship election.
“We are here to assure President Tinubu that our party in Kano state is solidly behind him,” Ganduje said. “Because of his policies and our political dexterity, we have attracted important politicians from other parties into the APC.”
He listed recent defections from the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), including former commissioners and lawmakers such as Kawu Sumaila, Kabiru Ruru and Abdullahi Sani Rogo.
Bichi added that Tinubu’s infrastructure projects in Kano proved his commitment to the state.
“For someone to say Mr President is not interested in Kano or the north is all politics,” he said. “In 2027, Kano will come all out and vote for the president and APC governor, Insha Allah.”
