“With hard work, dedication, and tenacity, you have achieved the mission the nation dreamed of and prayed for. The nation looks forward to welcoming our champions. Congratulations! Nigeria celebrates you.”
Mission X: Accomplished in Rabat
In what was dubbed “Mission X” by fans and players alike—a symbolic reference to the team’s quest for a 10th title—Nigeria’s victory capped off a tournament marked by resilience and revenge.
Trailing 0–2 in the first half before a roaring Moroccan crowd, the Falcons clawed their way back into the contest with characteristic steel. The equaliser came just before the hour mark, and with momentum now firmly in their favour, Nigeria surged ahead late in the match to seal a stunning 3–2 win—igniting scenes of jubilation on the pitch and across the country.

The win not only reasserts Nigeria’s dominance on the continent but also avenges the heartbreak of 2022, when the Falcons were eliminated by Morocco on penalties in the semi-finals.
For the hosts, it was another bitter end. Having lost the 2022 final to South Africa, also at home, Morocco’s Atlas Lionesses will now have to wait longer for their first-ever WAFCON crown.
Their journey to the top has underscored the strength of Nigerian women in sports, the deep reservoir of football talent in the country, and the indelible role of perseverance in achieving greatness.
As the team prepares to return home, they do so not just as champions of Africa, but as symbols of unity, strength, and inspiration.
