President Bola Tinubu, on Tuesday night in Lagos, conferred the Nigerian national honour of Commander of the Order of the Federal Republic (CFR) on billionaire Bill Gates.
This is as the President also on Tuesday, received the suspended Governor of Rivers State, Simi Fubara.
Although details of the President’s discussion were not made public, Bayo Onanuga, Presidential Spokesman, confirmed Tinubu’s engagement with Fubara.
Recall that Fubara was suspended from office when a Statement of Emergency was imposed on the State by President Tinubu earlier this year.
The embattled former Rivers Governor is rumoured to be planning to join the All Progressive Congress, APC, which he has yet to confirm or deny
It was not immediately clear if his visit was in furtherance of the defection.

Gate, who is currently on a visit to Nigeria, has met with President Tinubu and other government officials to discuss reforms in the country’s primary healthcare system.
BusinessDay gathered that during the visit, Bill Gates will participate in several other engagements, including the Goalkeepers Nigeria event, as well as meetings with scientists and stakeholders focused on expanding artificial intelligence-driven health solutions.
