Women in Odigbo Local Government Area of Ondo State have smiled home with cash gifts and bags of rice to enjoy the yuletide.
BusinessDay reports that one of the support groups formed by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunj-Ojo, through his political associates for the actualisation of the second term bid of President Bola Tinubu, ‘Asiwaju Mandate Group (AMG) Women Wing’, distributed hundreds of bags of rice to residents of Odigbo LGA.
Yetunde Adeyanju, the Coordinator of AMG’s women wing in the state, while speaking during the distribution on Wednesday in Ore, Odigbo local government area of the state, said the gesture became necessary to show appreciation to the people for their support for the Interior Minister, Olubunmi Tunj-Ojo in pursuit of the actualisation of President Tinubu’s second term bid.
According to her, the procurement of the bags of rice alongside cash gifts was by the Minister in order for the people to enjoy the Christmas and New Year celebrations.
Adeyanju, a former Commissioner, said, “This is our yearly get-together event among the women in Odigbo LGA.
“Our mission here today is to rejoice and to thank God for keeping us alive to celebrate another Xmas and new year period, and we are also thanking our dear Minister, Olubunmi-Tunji Ojo for what he has done for us.
“today, we are distributing bags of rice and cash gifts to our women in Ondo State, courtesy of Olubunmi-Tunji Ojo.
“He decided to provide for the procurement of bags of rice and cash gifts for the people supporting our group. This is for them to enjoy the Christmas and New Year seasons.
“This is also happening in other places to appreciate the people for their support for the Minister and the second term bid of Mr President.
“So, we encourage our women in Ondo State to be courageous, steadfast and committed to his group and to the Asiwaju project in 2027. We, the women in Ondo State are solidly behind the reelection of Bola Tinubu come 2027.”
Ismaila Olurimisi, a former Commissioner for Culture and Tourism and Chief Imam of Odigbo, who spoke at the event, described the event as very significant and strategic.
“Olubunmi-Tunji Ojo is giving us happiness and joy in Ondo State, those who have been short-changed, that did not have anything in the party, APC, Olubunmi-Tunji Ojo has Yetunde Adeyanju to mobilize them out to give them something in terms of succour to make their new year a merriment,” he said.
According to him, the gesture served as a platform to share messages of hope and complement the Government’s efforts with incentives and palliatives for the people.
Olurimisi praised the President for driving equitable growth, reviving the economy, and giving women strategic roles in governance.
He, therefore, said the achievements of President Bola Tinubu will anchor victory in the next general elections.
