…As new administration takes over
The Kwara Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (KWACCIMA) has reaffirmed its commitment to fostering economic growth, industrialisation, entrepreneurship, and job creation for the overall development of the state and Nigeria at large.
Oluronke Adeyemi, SAN, The 11th President and Chairman of the Council, gave this assurance during her address at the 55th Annual General Meeting of the Chamber, held at its Secretariat in Afon Junction, a suburb of Ilorin, the Kwara State capital.
Adeyemi, whose tenure has just ended, expressed satisfaction with the achievements recorded during her administration, despite the global economic challenges that adversely affected many businesses.
Represented by Hassan Ibrahim, she highlighted some of her administration’s key interventions, including the resolution of tax-related disputes between the state revenue agency and the Kwara Igbo Traders Association, which helped to maintain harmony among business stakeholders.
“I urge the incoming administration to sustain the strong working relationship with the state government under the leadership of Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq until we fully harness the potential of such collaboration,” she stated.
Adeyemi also lauded the Governor for his continued support, which she said had helped the Chamber reach greater heights.
Speaking at the event, Abosede Olaitan Buremo, Kwara State Commissioner for Solid Minerals Development, encouraged the Chamber to remain vibrant and continue to strengthen collaborations with relevant agencies for the state’s growth.
Similarly, Edun Ayinla Yusuf, commissioner for Local Government, Chieftaincy Affairs and Community Department, called on KWACCIMA to scale up support for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and grassroots businesses through capacity-building initiatives, while fostering stronger public-private partnerships to drive sustainable economic development.
On her part, Damilola Yusuf-Adelodun, the Commissioner for Business, Innovation and Technology, noted that the state government is actively aligning with KWACCIMA’s programmes, adding that efforts to encourage industrialists in the state will not wane.
The AGM also witnessed the emergence of Abu Salami as the 12th President of the Chamber. A fellow of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) and Managing Director of Zain Travels & Tours Limited, Salami previously served as the Deputy to the outgoing president.
Other newly elected officers include: First Deputy President: Hassan Ibrahim Sani (Shelter Setters Aluminum & Experts Nigeria Ltd)
Second Deputy President: Samuel Ola Akinlaja (Peace Standard Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd)
Vice President (Commerce): Anaekwe Gideon Kodir (Honours Intercontinental Concepts Ltd), Vice President (Industry): Representative from International Tobacco Company Ltd, Vice President (Mines): Akeem Salawudeen (TASCON Plastics Industry Ltd).
Others are, Vice President (Agriculture): Ibrahim Adebayo (AWAZAB Nigeria Ltd), Vice President (Finance and Professional Practice): Ramat Remi Sulyman (Ramat Remi Sulyman & Associates), Vice President (Cooperatives and Informal Sector): Zururat Romoke Zubair (RAMAS Wajadinah Int’l Company), Treasurer: Sadiq Bolarinwa Abiodun (ABBO Stores), Legal Adviser: Barrister Rotimi Oyagbola (Real Chesterfield Ltd), and Public Relations Officer: Alaaya Rukayat Morenikeji (CORASS Nigeria Ltd).
The AGM was well-attended by Ayo Fagbemi, he Director General of KWACCIMA, members of the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN); and other stakeholders from across the state’s business community.
