Smile Communications has launched a revamped e-SIM card that will give first-time users 50 minutes of free local calls to any network on activation.
Set at N500, the e-SIM card comes with loaded free unlimited on-net calls and text messages and is available on SmileVoice app.
Smile Communication, in a statement, said the objective of the launch is to empower existing and prospective customers with a product extension derived from an existing product with many goodies and freebies.
Abdul Hafeez, chief marketing officer of Smile Communications, pointed out that normal SIM cards would need to be inserted into the smartphone and only function wherever the mobile network is available. The e-SIM, on the other hand, could be used anywhere in the world. All that is required is for existing Smile customers to activate the free SmileVoice App on their smartphone, connected through WiFi or mobile data.

“Just download the free SmileVoice app on a compatible smartphone, running an Android or iOS system, through the respective app stores. Once the download is successful, a customer will be required to activate the service on their device. Once activated, the device needs to be connected to wireless or mobile internet for the customer to launch the dialler on the app and initiate a call like a regular call to use the service,” Hafeez said.
A university lecturer and user of the earlier eSIM variant, Iniobong Emem, confirmed that he cherished the eSIM product offering that was multifaceted and cost-effective. He is expecting that the re-introduction of the Smile eSIM will offer more advantages.
