United Kingdom listed, Sirius Petroleum have announced two additional well head systems are on its way to Nigeria where they are planned for placement on Ororo-4 and Ororo-5 wells.
The company said in a statement on its official website that the acquisitions are additional update on the company’s Ororo field operations.
Emmanuel Afimia, Energy analyst at Afimia consulting says deploying this technology will make production more efficient and less expensive in Nigeria.
Speaking on the impact of this acquisition on the oil industry, Afimia responded, “To a large extent, the deployment of this technology will create awareness, and other companies will begin to adopt it if they find it more efficient than existing brands of well heads.”
The company is also currently considering a number of opportunities in the oil and gas sector with particular focus in Nigeria.
The Nigeria focused oil and gas development and production company announced in December the delivery of its first two sets of Cameron SOLIDrill modular compact well head systems in Nigeria for the commencement of the drilling programme at Ororo-2 and Ororo-3.
Sirus petroleum, which is also quoted on the Alternative Investment Market (AIM) of the London Stock Exchange, plans to commence the drilling of its first well on the Ororo Field, the Ororo-2 in April 2018 which will be in a location close to the Ororo-1 well that was originally successfully drilled by Chevron in 1986.
All well head equipment and services for the Ororo Field are being supplied through Cameron, a Schlumberger Group Company.
The Cameron SOLIDrill modular compact wellhead systems increase casing and tubing hanger landing reliability and help prevent debris from entering the wellhead. The hangers and packoffs are designed with angled shoulders to repel debris, such as dirt, metal shavings, and cement plugs.
Early this year, Sirius Petroleum provided update on the company’s Ororo Field development stating it had completed a Mechanical Earth Model (‘MEM’) with the team at Schlumberger Nigeria Limited.
The MEM will also be used to help develop the future Ororo Development Drilling campaign and also facilitate a more rigorous completions program on Ororo-2 and Ororo-3, and is designed to maximize the production and reservoir management plans.
Sirius Petroleum plc is an investment company, which is focused on oil and gas Exploration and Development (E&P) opportunities in Nigeria.
The Company’s principal activity is to acquire and develop offshore proven oil discoveries (marginal fields) in Nigeria. The Company is engaged in oil extraction and related activities.
