Shop City, an indigenous supermarket offering several ranges of products to give customers a better shopping experience, has formally berthed in Lagos.
The one-stop shop with a slogan ‘Merchant of Happiness,’ is a retail business that seeks to satisfy and serves its customers properly by making the prices of products affordable and giving its customers easy shopping experience.
Speaking during the launch of the shop in Gbagada, Lagos, Timi Obasi, manager, Shop City Supermarket, said the opening of the shop was like a dream come true, adding that the reason for the launch was to give customers a convenient place to shop with competitive prices.
According to her, “It is a beautiful shop and we don’t want the usual supermarket but a place people can come and feel relaxed. That is why we are taking our time to make it look beautiful. We wanted a Nigerian indigenous brand, so that we can promote our Nigerian products and that is why most of our products here are made in Nigeria. We have both local and foreign brands, and we work with local manufacturers and distributors, thereby giving them an outlet to showcase their products. We intend to open in different neighbourhoods so that it will be reachable for people.”
Shop City plans to open more outlets and for the next three year will be looking at opening 10 more in Lagos, after which they will extend to other states, Obasi disclosed.
Aramide Aikpitanyi, executive director, Shop City Supermarket, said “Gbagada in Lagos, has been made the first choice of location for the shop because it has a very huge market, with so much population comprising of the middle class, who deserve a better way of shopping, which Shop City promises to offer them
“Everything that you could think about is available at Shop City including household items, food and drinks, insurance, cosmetics, kids’ items, among others. This is like a one-stop shop for everyone.”
Aikpitanyi revealed that the slogan ‘Merchant of Happiness’ was chosen because they believe that what people need in their lives is happiness, which should extend into shopping as well.
