Shi’ites invade National Assembly, shoot two security men
Angry members of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria (IMN) on Tuesday stormed the National Assembly Complex in Abuja and shot a policeman and a civil defence officer.
They allegedly disarmed one of the security officers before shooting the security operatives.
They are protesting the continued detention of their leader, Ibrahim Elzakzaky, by the Federal Government.
The Shi’ites broke down the first gate and proceeded to the second, which leads to the main entrance to the complex.
However, they were resisted by security operatives who fired several gunshots into the air to disperse the protesters.
The Shiites are currently burning some vehicles parked close to the gate while more security operatives are being deployed to the scene.
