Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the executive governor of Lagos State has on Monday commissioned the newly constructed Adeboruwa of Igbogbo Palace in Ikorodu, in a historic move to reposition the traditional institutions in the state while emphasising his commitment to infrastructural development.
Sanwo-Olu, who was ably represented by Roberts Bibire, the commissioner for Local Government Affairs, commended the people of Igbogbo Kingdom for upholding their rich cultural heritage and working collectively towards community development.
The governor noted that the completion of the new palace is a clear demonstration of what is possible when traditional institutions and local government leadership work together for the greater good.

“This palace stands as a beacon of our shared history and our common aspirations for a united, peaceful, and prosperous Lagos,” the governor said.
“Our administration remains fully committed to supporting our royal fathers, strengthening cultural institutions, and investing in infrastructure that uplifts the lives of our people at the grassroots.”
In his remarks, Olusesan Daini, the executive chairman of Igbogbo/Baiyeku LCDA, described the edifice as a testament to the community’s enduring heritage, visionary leadership, and unwavering commitment to sustainable development.

“This palace is not just a building; it is a living symbol of our people’s unity, cultural pride, and our administration’s dedication to delivering transformative projects that honour our past and inspire our future,” said Daini.
He extended his heartfelt congratulations to His Royal Majesty, Oba (Barr.) Semiudeen Orimadegun Kasali, Emugoriade I, the Adeboruwa of Igbogbo Kingdom, on this historic milestone that will serve as a rallying point for cultural preservation, peace, and unity for generations to come.
The grand commissioning ceremony was graced by a distinguished gathering of dignitaries, including members of the Lagos State Executive Council, the Accountant General of the Federation, Royal Obas from across the state and the Permanent Secretary for Local Government Affairs.
Other dignitaries included the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Lagos State Executive Committee led by the Party Chairman, the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Members of the National Assembly representing Lagos East Senatorial District and Ikorodu Federal Constituency, other prominent indigenes, and respected community stakeholders.
The Igbogbo/Baiyeku LCDA remains resolute in its mission to implement projects and programmes that strengthen heritage, promote peace, and ensure sustainable prosperity for all residents.
