The Managing Director (MD) of Sailor’s Lounge must be an audacious fellow who has seen it all touring the world because the setting and the location of the lounge is beyond the ideal of a man who has seen few shores. The ideal of using wood to build the structure housing the lounge is also deliberately chosen; it is built to appeal to only those who know and appreciate the naturalness of living in a wooden house! Sailor’s Lounge’s high appreciation for furniture is unbeatable! It’s wood all the way! Even its cane chairs though, looked plastic, is produced in such a way it could reflect wooden decorum. Sorrow has a way of losing its grip on its victim once stepped out of the car to the rainbow-light saturated environment of Sailor’s Lounge. From the step case disco lights bubbling to lead customers in, to the smooth and neatly laid wooden floor shining like a body of snake. Then come to the bar itself where ladies and gentlemen relax. The mouth and its sister stomach are not denied their portions. This is done in a serene and paradise-like atmosphere, with hush music. All manner of sea foods are available; Sailor is second to none when it comes to seafood in the area. BBQ, Suya, Fish, Grilled Fish and the likes: wine, spirit and drinks of all brands and categories aid the serious munching that takes place there. Television sets hanged in every corner, showing live football matches or movies at customers’ request.
The choice of the whole arrangement of the lounge is peculiarly chosen to suit peculiar personality; personalities that love the sea and all that are in it! Personalities that crave the sea breeze and its sound! Personalities that have overtime developed a symbiotic relationship with the lagoon and deep waters; hence the name ‘Sailor’s Lounge’!
Sailor’s Lounge has snooker board on the third floor where guys sometime resort to for more fun with glasses of beer, spirit or wine as the case may be. The second floor has a balcony arranged distinctively for smokers to struggle with the sea breeze from spraying cigarette ashes on either on them or the drink. It is a cool place in the night to be! It is a beautiful sight to behold; viewing from afar the dazzling light of the Lekki-Ikoyi Bridge, the night panoramic view of Ikoyi and Victoria Island; and looking down on the outdoor extension of the lounge, built purposefully on the lagoon. The whole arrangement is amazing! Men tapping into the wondrous work of the Living God, to create a world of their own! Sailor’, Lounge is indeed a world of its own! There is no wooden structure at the moment in Lagos, and perhaps, in Nigeria that can compete with it both in size and in sophistication!
Sailor’s Lounge is discriminatory! ‘Discriminatory’ in the sense that it’s not open to all. It’s for selected class of people. It’s for sophisticated individuals; individuals though rich in every respect, but cool and humble. It’s a place for the ‘big guys’; the very elites with a sense of humour. The very rich who neither make noise themselves, nor enjoy the company of noise makers! Personalities who respect themselves and respect others as well! It’s not for the rich but arrogant individuals.
The kitting of the service boys and girls is second to none in lounge business in the area. It is possible to mistake them for flight attendants as they go about striving to attend to customers in the best possible manner. Sailor’s Lounge, located in Block 12, Admiralty Road, Lekki Phase 1, runs Dance Club service. It also has fitness centre where customers attempt to keep their body fit.
