Liverpool teenager Rio Ngumoha has signed his first professional contract with the Premier League champions, but the 17-year-old rising star is still barred from the club’s first-team dressing room.
The forward, who joined from Chelsea in September 2024, has already made five senior appearances for the Reds and announced himself with a 100th-minute winner on his Premier League debut at Newcastle United last month.

He also became Liverpool’s youngest-ever starter in the FA Cup and their youngest player in European competition after featuring against Atletico Madrid.
His progress has been rapid, earning him a deal just weeks after his 17th birthday. However, Football Association regulations mean Ngumoha cannot yet share a changing room with senior players. Under FA safeguarding rules, players under 18, legally classified as children, must not change alongside adults.
The restriction has nothing to do with discipline or head coach Arne Slot’s management. Instead, it is a compliance measure designed to protect minors, meaning Ngumoha will continue to prepare separately from his teammates until he turns 18 next year.
Liverpool described the teenager as “an exciting attacking talent” after confirming his contract, with his breakthrough season already marking him out as one of the Premier League’s brightest prospects.
