The leadership of the House of Representatives on Thursday assured that the Ad-hoc Committee on political agitation, will interface with relevant stakeholders and groups in the cause of discharging its functions.
Abdulrasak Namdas, chairman, House Committee on Media and Public Affairs Gabe the assurance during the weekly legislative briefing on the activities of the Lower Chamber.
Namdas who doubles as member of the Ad-hoc Committee, assured that all the inputs from the nationwide consultation will be included in the devolution of power bill, which is to be register by the House.
When asked whether the Ad-hoc Committee will meet with leader of the Independent People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, the House spokesman, noted that the committee has prerogative to interface with anybody since the agitation has political and economic approaches.
The Adamawa lawmaker explained that the dexisin to revisit the devolution of power was in response to the hues and cries of nigerians over the last voting on the recommendations of the Special Ad-hoc Committee on Constitution review.
He however note that the devolution of power bill will be subjected to voting as applicable to other constitution amendment, after which it will be transmitted to the State Houses of Assembly where it would require two-third support from the 36 states of the federation.
In a related development, Lasun Yussuff, Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, solicited for the support of all Nigerians in resolving the lingering crisis.
Lasun who presided over the inaugural meeting of the House 16-member Special Ad-hoc committee on the political agitations explained that the committee was saddled with the responsibility of making sure that all political agitation from various quarters across the country are addressed.
He said the committee would go from one location to another to investigate the cause of agitation and also provide a lasting solution to various agitations.
The Osun lawmaker urged members of the committee to put the national assignment in the front burner considering the urgency and complexity of the agitations.
He assured Nigerians that the committee would do everything within its power to come up with solutions that would stop further agitation in the country.
