L-R- Stan Luckoski (Public Affairs Manager, Chevron); Barbara J. Burger (President, Chevron Technology Ventures); Temitayo Etomi (Redwire Marketing CEO & 2018 Chevron Eisenhower Fellow), and Chris Benson Public Affairs Advisor of the Policy, Government & Public Affairs Department for Chevron, Inc., USA.
Ms. Temitayo Etomi, founder and CEO of Redwire Marketing Group, has been named the 2018 Chevron Fellow of the Eisenhower Fellowships. The Eisenhower Fellowship organization announced this last week ahead of the closing ceremony of its 2018 Global program that took place in Philadelphia, USA.
Chevron Fellowships are awarded annually by a generous gift from Chevron USA Inc, to outstanding Eisenhower Fellows who have distinguished themselves in their areas of focus.
The Eisenhower Fellowships recognised Temitayo’s work in adding to the body of effort to reduce unemployment in Nigeria and in particular, her adaptation of President Barack Obama’s Mandela Washington program was lauded as an innovative approach to tackling the problem.
In 2015, Temitayo Etomi created the Young Business Leaders of Nigeria network that gathers cohorts of young people from states with the highest unemployment numbers and brings them to Lagos for a 6-weeks residential training program.
After the program, eligible members of the cohorts receive grants, loans or equity investments to improve their businesses and contribute to the cycle of job-creation within their communities.
This model, alongside the YBL’s programs, has so far facilitated the employment of more than 60,000 unemployed Nigerians since its launch in 2015.
Temitayo received her award during her visit to Chevron Corporations offices in Houston Texas, where she met with Barbara J. Burger, Chevron President (Technology Ventures), Mamadou Beye, General Manager Chevron Africa & Latin America and Nicole Barber, Chevron’s Manager for Policy, Government & Public Affairs.

Erin Hillman, Eisenhower’s Vice President of Programs, who announced the award, remarked that Temitayo Etomi was selected for the award from among her peers as a result of her professional accomplishments and potential to continue advancing the global society.
Etomi will return to Nigeria after participating in the 2018 Global program of Eisenhower Fellowships to continue her work with reducing unemployment.
Now in its 65th year and named for America’s 34th president, Eisenhower Fellowship brings together innovative leaders from across geographies and sectors, visionaries who tackle significant challenges to better the world around them. Since 1953, more than 2,300 mid-career leaders from 115 countries have benefited from the unique, customized experience of an Eisenhower Fellowship.
