The Recycling Association of Nigeria (RAN) is embarking on a pivotal new chapter, driven by a fresh leadership team committed to transforming the nation’s waste management landscape.
At the inauguration of its new Board of Trustees (BOT), following a successful election and transition process, the body said their central mission is the vigorous development of a sustainable, circular recycling ecosystem designed to reduce environmental pollution and create green economic opportunities across Nigeria.
The new leadership team comprises Habib Ahmed as chair, Rita Idehai as vice chair, and other members, including Allison Ukonu, Olufunto Boroffice. Bankole Oloruntoba, Mohammed Nazeeph Magaji, and Professor Innocent Nnorom.
RAN extends gratitude to the outgoing Board: Priscilla Achakpa, Kofoworola Adeleke, Doyinsola Ogunye, Lotanna Gerald Okoye, Wale Adebiyi, and Ola Oresanya for their dedication and service, which have strengthened the organisation and driven growth in Nigeria’s recycling industry.
In his inaugural remarks, Ahmed emphasised teamwork and collective progress: “It truly takes a village to raise a child; we will all collectively continue to raise our child, the Recyclers Association of Nigeria.”
New trustees pledged support, highlighting priorities such as financial sustainability, governance, stakeholder engagement, and a five-year vision for RAN’s future.
RAN looks forward to collaboration, innovation, and growth, building a stronger, more sustainable recycling ecosystem for Nigeria.
This renewed focus aims to unify stakeholders from informal collectors to large industries to ensure responsible material recovery and build a cleaner, more resource-efficient future.
