Governor Dikko Umaru Radda of Katsina State has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to investing in the future of the State through education, skills acquisition and empowerment of the girl-child, describing such investment as critical to families, communities and generations yet unborn.
The governor made the remarks on Monday while addressing 1,000 beneficiaries of government-supported skills acquisition programmes, stressing that his administration had, from inception, adopted an inclusive approach to development.
“When we invest in our child, we invest in families and communities and generations yet unborn. From the onset of this administration, we made a deliberate commitment to building the future of every citizen without discrimination,” Radda said.
He declared that the State’s ambition was clear and uncompromising. “No child, especially the girl-child, should be denied education, skills and opportunity due to circumstances or background. Empowering girls is not just a social responsibility; it is a strategic investment for sustainable development,” he stated.
Radda said Skills Acquisition Centres had been established and strengthened across several local government areas, including Katsina, Kaita, Funtua, Matazu, Charanchi, Baure, Kurfi, Mani and other parts of the state, to equip girls with practical, income-generating skills.

“These centres are designed to ensure our girls acquire practical skills that lead to self-reliance, dignity of labour and economic independence,” just as he expressed satisfaction that beneficiaries were not only receiving certificates but also empowerment kits to help them immediately translate training into productivity.
“This is intentional. Training without tools limits impact. We want our girls to leave here prepared, confident and equipped to begin their journey immediately,” he noted.
Addressing the graduates directly, Governor Radda urged them to make responsible and creative use of the items provided. “Use these empowerment kits productively. Let them be the foundation of your livelihood and a source of pride to your families and communities,” he charged.
He also announced a new partnership between the state government and the private sector, revealing that Greenhouse, a company operating in the state, had committed to recruiting 300 graduates into various trades.
According to him, “Through a strategic partnership initiated by the Department of Girl-Child Education and Child Development, Greenhouse has committed to recruiting 300 of our graduates. We appreciate you, we thank you, and may God bless you,” noting that the partnership will offer advanced internship opportunities and enable the graduates to contribute meaningfully to the company’s growth while gaining industry experience.
Governor Radda commended the Special Adviser and staff of the Department of Girl-Child Education and Child Development for what he described as their dedication and innovation. “Their work continues to translate policy into real and measurable outcomes for the people of Katsina State,” he said.
He thanked parents, guardians, partners and instructors for their support and belief in the girl-child, describing the graduates as “the pride of Katsina and ambassadors of a brighter future.”
The governor concluded by reaffirming his administration’s resolve to create an enabling environment where every student can thrive. “Together, we shall continue to build a state where opportunity is shared, talent is nurtured, and no one is left behind,” he said.
