Some more items recovered from the No 6, Ogun River, Maitama, Abuja home of ex Chief of Defence Staff , Alex Badeh, have been tendered before Justice Okon Abang of an Abuja Federal High Court.
At the resumption of trail of the former Defence Chief, Lasun Sanusi SAN, had argued against the items being admitted on the grounds that there was no law that the person executing a search warrant to just by wit, take anybody around as witness.
The trial court did however, admitted the items as exhibits on the grounds that the defence team did not oppose to the admissibility of the search warrant, but opposed to the admissibility of the red box and two way bills, which were eventually admitted as exhibits.
Goji Mohammed, an Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC), investigative operative, had earlier told the court how they his team recovered $1m , a red box with a knife inside and two way bills from the defendant’s house.
The witness, while being led in evidence, told the trial court that the reason the red box which contained a knife was brought in as an exhibit was because of the inscription on the knife ‘excellent in aviation’, which indicated him reaching the peak of his career.
He added that Badeh’s house was searched in his absence was because he was not in Abuja and there was a need to act fast on the information they got because they heard some of the items in the house were being removed.
The prosecution also attempted to tender a DVD containing the video recording of the search conducted at the defendant house located at Ogun River Street Maitama, Abuja but the defence objected to it, before it was later withdrawn.
The matter was subsequently adjourned to March 20,21and 23, 2017 for continuation of trial.
