The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has raised a fresh alarm on the use of card readers by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for Saturday’s election.
According to the party, the handheld device could be compromised. Director General, PDP Presidential Campaign Organisation, Femi Fani- Kayode, who stated this at a news conference in Abuja on Wednesday, specifically alleged that the supplier of the card readers, who had been blacklisted in the past by the Commission, is an ardent supporter of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
He also said that available documents at his disposal had revealed that the card reader supplier, Sani Musa, who produced the cards through his own company, Act Technologies Limited, has been a close friend of the APC candidate, Muhammadu Buhari, over the years.
He said intelligence reports revealed that the manufacturers of both the card readers and the PVC had compromised the security features in them and allegedly revealed the details to the opposition party.
