Regional players in the collocation sub-sector of the telecoms industry including Nigeria’s Pan Towers are expected to convene in South Africa early next month for the 5th annual TowerXchange Meet up Africa and Middle East conference.
The annual event is also a networking environment aimed at fostering growth in the telecoms industry.
“The 2017 TowerXchange event will feature alongside regional big players, Pan African Towers (PAT) and other TowerCos with innovative models that will change the market space within the very near future and equally foster healthy and formidable competition within the industry”, a statement said
Pan African Towers which was recently approved by the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) to render collocation and infrastructure sharing services in Nigeria will commence operations with about 1,000 towers in the immediate with growth plans to aggressively double its tower portfolio within the next twelve months in Nigeria and three other African countries; this will see PAT becoming a key player among independent tower companies, the statement further said.
The new tower company was borne out of the need for efficient tower site management as the current industry demand outstrips the infrastructure capacity of the operators. For many industry analysts, outsourcing of tower management will be of benefit to all stakeholders, most especially to operators who can now focus on other value creating activities such as customer acquisition, service quality, operational and strategic excellence.
The statement said that agile private tower companies like Pan African Tower (PAT) can survive and thrive in competition with industry giants as a result of their unique operating model that will ensure healthy competition in order to achieve profitable margins and best industry practices. “PAT’s assurances of quality tower infrastructures in attractive locations will help it gain credit worthy tenants that will guarantee cash flow for investors.
This upcoming event will serve as a platform where big industry players across Africa and the Middle East will meet up and discuss recent industry trends; the future of network design and tower companies’ role; financing and M&A of Africa’s tower industry as well as energy challenges and prospects.
The statement said that the platform will help Pan African Towers create partnerships, develop relationships, exhibit its operational business model and share value with other major industry players and investors.
