The Africa International Housing Show (AIHS) has hailed Taiwo Oyedele’s nomination as a minister, saying that he earned that position on the back of expertise in fiscal policy and support for housing reform.
The group described the development as a positive step towards strengthening Nigeria’s economic management and advancing reforms that can support housing development.
Festus Adebayo, AIHS chief executive, noted in a statement at the weekend that Oyedele’s background in fiscal policy, taxation and economic reforms places him in a good position to contribute to policies that can stabilise Nigeria’s economy and encourage investments in housing and infrastructure.
Adebayo emphasised that fiscal stability and sound economic policies are critical to unlocking large-scale investment in housing development, particularly in areas such as mortgage financing, housing affordability and real estate expansion.
He recalled how Oyedele participated in the 2025 edition of AIHS, engaging with stakeholders across the housing value chain and expressed willingness to collaborate with stakeholders on key reforms affecting the sector.
“Oyedele pledged to partner with AIHS in advancing reforms in the area of land use administration, a critical factor affecting access to land and housing development in Nigeria,” Adebayo recalled further.
He described the minister-nominee as housing-friendly, noting that his openness to policy dialogue aligns with ongoing advocacy efforts aimed at improving Nigeria’s housing ecosystem.
AIHS hopes that Oyedele’s experience in fiscal policy and reform-oriented approach will contribute to creating an enabling economic environment that will support affordable housing delivery, expand mortgage access and encourage greater private sector participation in housing development.
The Show is ready to continue working with government institutions and reform-driven leaders to promote policies that will strengthen land administration, housing finance and sustainable housing development in Nigeria.
