A former director of evangelism, East Nigerian Union of Seventh Day Adventist Church (SDA), Dave Onyenkwere, has urged Christians to trust and have faith in prophetic messages of scriptures for their spiritual nourishment and growth.
Speaking in Umuahia last weekend, while delivering a sermon during the dedication of the Igbo version of Ellen G. White’s revered book ‘The Great Controversy,’ the clergyman said that scriptural prophesies never came as opinion of mankind, but the anointed people of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit.
The book dedication which held at the SDA Church, Ubakala District, old Umuahia, Abia State, attracted many leaders of the SDA church from far and near.
Dorothy Uwadiegwu, a member of SDA Church, Ubakala District, old Umuahia, Abia State, sponsored the translation of the book into Igbo version to promote effective grassroots evangelism among her people. About 1000 copies will be distributed free of charge.
Quoting copiously from 2 Peter 1: 20-21, Onyenkwere emphasized that scriptural prophesies originate from God and not from human speculation or invention to reinforce the authority of the Bible and encourages faith in its messages.
In his Remarks on the book ‘The Great Controversy’ Pastor Onyenkwere said that it is a product of prophesy following encounters the author, Ellen G. White had with God in diverse of visions.
He admonished believers to get involve in spreading the gospel of Christ in other to win souls for God, even as he said that the book will deepen the understanding of God to those who diligently use and apply its teachings and enable them find meaning in their lives.
Pastor Onyenkwere commended Uwadiegwu for devoting her time and resources in sponsoring the book translation. He prayed for God’s blessings upon her and members of the Uwadiekwu’s family.
Special prayers were offered by the clergyman to six individuals who played roles in making the translation of the book project a success and they include; Chima Chigbu of Okpu Township District, Aba; Friday Mark; S. O. Chioma; Late E. N. Akwaranwa, Glory Obinna and Chukwuemeka Chioma, all of Ubakala District of SDA Church.
