Okowa replies critics over project execution
In what seems like a reply to aggrieved Deltans who continuously accuse his administration of marginalisation in development of their areas, Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State has explained that no section of the state is marginalised.
Most people from the riverine areas of the state believe that priority attention is paid to non-riverine communities where the governor hails from.
In his efforts to address the issue, the governor has explained that his administration does not discriminate in dishing out democratic dividends because he sees the people as belonging to one united family.
He spoke at Otor-Udu, Udu Local Government Area of the state during Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) campaign rally ahead of the February 16 and March 2, general elections. The campaign team was also at Ogbe-Ijaw, Warri South Local Government Area of the state.
“We run an all inclusive government, we don’t discriminate, we don’t execute projects based on the level of support we receive from people because, Deltans are one united people. We believe that if you don’t support us today, you will support us tomorrow,” he said.
Okowa told them that he was impressed with the crowd at the rally, “It is a clear evidence that the people appreciate the road we are constructing in the area, the schools we have constructed, our empowerment programmes; we are committed to doing more.”
He seized the opportunity to thank Deltans, especially the people of Udu for agreeing that we should work together.
He thanked the people for agreeing to live in peace with their neighbours, the people of Ogbe-Ijaw, as he noted that with peace, the area would witness unprecedented development in the next four years.
