As part of the effort to deepen revenue drive meant to earn more income to government coffers, the Ogun state government has launched mobile advertising sticker permit for branded cars, buses, trucks, coasters, pickups, motorcycles, tricycles, among others.
The compulsory usage of mobile adverts sticker permit, which is expected to begin from January 1, 2021, according to an official statement, is being introduced to re-route the state revenue wrongly received by the neighbouring states back to the state since Ogun state is the largest industrial hub and shouldn’t be left of revenue generation from mobile adverts sticker permit.
Speaking at the launch of mobile adverts sticker permit joined hosted by Ogun State Signage and Advertising Agency (OGSAA) in Abeokuta on Wednesday, Fola Onifade, General Manager of OGSAA, argued that the development was a welcome idea in an era when the state clamours for increased Internally Generated Revenue (IGR).
He said, “Its benefit to the state is that it will increase the revenue of the state. In an era when we are clamouring for increased internal revenue, this is an avenue that we cannot overlook.

“Our primary purpose is to increase the IGR of the state. From 1st of January 2021, the sticker would be made compulsory. It’s a welcome development for the people of Ogun state. It’s a compulsory road permit that every branded motorist must obtain.
When inquired whether the compulsory permit would not form multiple taxations in the state, Onifade explained that the permit would rather serve as a relief to residents of the state, adding that the cost of obtaining the permit in other state is quite cheaper than those of other states.
“It will not form multiple taxations in Ogun state. It is even a relief to residents of Ogun State because they are also selling in other states but the one we sell here in Ogun is cheaper. What we are doing is to make life easier for our people by reducing the price. It is the cheapest by standard and measure of impact.
“If they can’t get it in Ogun state they can get it in other states. We are giving motorists in Ogun state the opportunity of having it here instead of having to travel to other states. You can access it through participatory banks”, he noted.
