The Presidency on Wednesday said no date been set for the assent to the 2017 budget as consultations were still ongoing.
Senior Special Assistant to the President on National Assembly (Senate), Ita Enang, stated this in a statement signed and released in Abuja.
“Further to several enquiries regarding action on the 2017 Appropriation Bill by the Executive, be please informed that Assent to same is not yet scheduled as consultations and engagements are
ongoing. Be please so informed” he said.
The budget was officially submitted to the Presidency penultimate Friday and Enang had at the submission stated that the budget will be signed after checks that it conforms to laid down procedures.
The Senate and House of Representatives had on the 11th May 2017 approved N7.441 trillion for the 2017 fiscal year. The 2017 budget showed a 2.18 percent deficit of N2,356,773,720,940; oil
President Muhammadu Buhari presented the budget to the National Assembly in December last year.
