US Embassy in Nigeria at the weekend announced that 22 representatives of organisations benefiting from Nigerian entrepreneurial development would attend the Global Entrepreneurship Summit in June 22 to 24, at Stanford University in California.
Nigerians submitted approximately 420 applications, the most from any country, for this year’s summit. “These special men and women will join more than 700 entrepreneurs from around the world along with investors, speakers, and leaders in the entrepreneurship space,” the US Embassy in Abuja said in a statement.
The summit will be the seventh instalment in a series previously hosted by the US and the governments of Turkey, the United Arab Emirates, Malaysia, Morocco, and Kenya.
“In bringing the summit back to the US, President Obama highlights his commitment to building bridges that help the international community tackle global challenges together,” the statement further read.
Participants at the summit will be joined by high-level US government officials, including President Barack Obama; secretary of commerce, Penny Pritzker; administrator of the small business administration, Maria Contreras-Sweet; US Agency for International Development administrator, Gayle Smith; ambassador at-large for global women’s issues, Catherine Russell, and under secretary of state for public diplomacy and public affairs, Richard Stengel.
