The National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI) is to partner with the nanotechnology research group of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) on deepening nanotechnology-driven research in Nigeria.
Khalil Suleiman Halil, Executive Vice-Chairman of NASENI, made this known during the recent 9th International Conference on Nanotechnology, organised by the LAUTECH Nanotechnology Research Group (NANO+) in Ogbomoso.
Halil, who was represented by Chika Scholastica Ezeanayaso, Head, Department of Nanoscience at NASENI, hinted at the readiness of the agency to work with the University on its nanotechnology-driven research advances.
He also commended the leadership of NANO+, noting that its activities resonate and are in line with the mission of NASENI to promote research for development.
Razaq Kalilu, the vice-chancellor of LAUTECH, expressed the eagerness of the university to partner with NASENI in translating research efforts to visible products that will benefit mankind.

He noted that the research group had added unparalleled value to the university through its various engagements.
Kalilu, who was represented by Dauda Olurotimi Araromi, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academics and Innovation), LAUTECH, disclosed that five members of the group were among the 20 scholars that received the VC’s commendation award for outstanding scholarly contributions to LAUTECH at the last convocation ceremony in April 2025.
The vice-chancellor pledged that the university would continue to support the activities of the group for the overall benefit to mankind.
Agbaje Lateef, Head, LAUTECH NANO+, highlighted the contributions of the group to nanotechnology development in Nigeria through research, publications, advocacy projects, mentoring and organisation of annual conferences since 2017.
He stated that his members had contributed over 180 publications in a decade, won research grants of about N120 million and established a journal on nanotechnology, “Nano Plus: Science and Technology of Nanomaterials” indexed by Google Scholar, CrossRef, AJOL, and EBSCO.
According to Lateef, the highlights of the conference included hands-on training on green synthesis of nanoparticles, characterisation and applications during the pre-conference workshop, and panel sessions on mentoring, scholarship, grant seeking, patenting and product development.
