At least seven persons were killed in the early hours of today at Ndi-Ejezie, Umualaoma and Ndiakuwata Uno, all in Arondizuogu, Ideato North Local Government Area, Imo State, by yet to be identified gunmen.
Accordingly, Aboki Danjuma, the commissioner of police, Imo State Command, condemned the gruesome attack carried out,
by suspected members of the ‘proscribed IPOB/ESN” in the early hours of July 25, 2025.
Danjuma described the killing as a senseless assault, which at the time of writing this report has claimed over seven persons and left several others critically injured.

The police chief stated that the killing was barbaric, inhumane, and totally unacceptable, but assured the public that the command had deployed adequate operational and intelligence assets to identify, apprehend, and bring the perpetrators to justice.
He has also led the police tactical unit for intense combing of the affected areas and affirmed that the situation was now under control, and that proactive security measures had been taken to forestall further attacks and restore lasting peace in the area.
While expressing sympathy to the families of those who lost their lives, Danjuma prayed for the peaceful repose of the souls of the deceased and a speedy recovery for the injured ones.
He also extended his condolences to the bereaved and encouraged them to remain strong during this difficult time.
