Chelsea are reportedly in discussions with Manchester United over the signing of Argentina international winger Alejandro Garnacho.
The 21-year-old has been told to find a new club, with United head coach Ruben Amorim reportedly believing the player is seeking a fresh challenge.
Garnacho came close to joining Chelsea during the January transfer window, with the winger confident a deal would be finalised.
Although the move did not materialise, sources indicate there has been a lingering expectation that the Argentine would eventually land at Stamford Bridge.
Communication between both clubs has remained open throughout the summer, and while no agreement has yet been reached, talks have now intensified.
From a financial standpoint, Garnacho holds significant value to United. As a home-grown player, having joined the Red Devils from Atletico Madrid at the age of 16, any sale would represent pure profit under profit and sustainability rules. However, it is unclear if Chelsea are prepared to meet United’s initial valuation of £60 million.
Amorim sparked controversy after the club’s Europa League final defeat to Tottenham in May when he told Garnacho to look for a new club.
Despite featuring in United’s post-season tour of Asia, the Argentine winger appeared detached and unhappy, fuelling speculation about his future.
