Manchester United are edging closer to an agreement with Wolves striker Matheus Cunha as they look to strengthen their attacking lineup ahead of the new season.
The Red Devils are prepared to trigger the Brazilian’s £62.5 million release clause and are optimistic about finalising personal terms by next month.
As reported by Mail Sport, Newcastle United have been United’s main rivals for Cunha’s signature, with plans to deploy him on the left wing.

However, the 25-year-old appears to have been swayed by the opportunity to play a key role in manager Ruben Amorim’s planned squad revamp at Old Trafford.
Amorim has made no secret of his admiration for Cunha, praising the forward’s versatility and goal-scoring prowess. The United boss was spotted speaking with Cunha after their clash at Molineux and again in the tunnel at Old Trafford on Sunday.
United have reportedly agreed on terms to sign Nigerian and Napoli striker Victor Osimhen. However, with the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR), Amorim’s recruitment strategy will depend on player sales and potential qualification for European competition.
Several high-profile departures are being considered to balance the books, with Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho, Antony, Casemiro, and Alejandro Garnacho all potentially up for sale this summer.
