Manchester City delivered a commanding performance at Portman Road, securing an emphatic 6-0 victory over struggling Ipswich to climb into the Premier League’s top four.
Starting the day in eighth place and needing a three-goal margin to break into the top four, Pep Guardiola’s men achieved the feat with ease, thanks to Phil Foden’s brilliance.

Foden was instrumental, scoring twice and assisting another goal in a dominant display. The England international opened the scoring in the 28th minute, expertly controlling Kevin De Bruyne’s cross before slotting home. Three minutes later, Mateo Kovacic doubled City’s lead with a crisp strike from the edge of the box, assisted by Foden. Foden added a third just before halftime, converting another De Bruyne pass to give City a comfortable cushion by the break.
After a disappointing 2-2 draw with Brentford in their last league outing, City’s attacking prowess was on full display. Jeremy Doku made it 4-0 early in the second half with a deflected strike, while Erling Haaland, fresh from signing a nine-and-a-half-year contract extension, capitalised on a defensive error to net the fifth. Substitute James McAtee capped off the rout with a looping header from Kovacic’s cross.

The victory moved City to fourth place on 38 points, reigniting their title ambitions. Meanwhile, Ipswich remains mired in the relegation zone with just 16 points.
