Ovie Omo-Agege, the embattled senator representing Delta Central Senatorial District, who allegedly led armed thugs to disrupt Senate plenary and snatched its Mace on April 18, has appeared before the Joint National Assembly Ad-hoc Committee investigating the incidence.
Appearing before the panel on Tuesday, the lawmaker said the matter is sub-judice and refused to comment on allegations that he led armed thugs to the Senate.
Citing Order 53 (5) of the Senate Standing Orders 2015 (as amended), he said: “I am not a coward…. I will wait on the outcome of the court case before I comment on the matter”.
He revealed that in Suit Number FHC/ABJ/CS/531//2018, he listed defendants in the case to include: the Senate, Senate President Bukola Saraki, Chairman of the Committee Bala Ibn Na’Allah, Clerk of the National Assembly, Attorney General of the Federation, Inspector General of Police and State Security Service.
The suit, he added, was filed on May 21, 2018.
In a swift reaction, Na’Allah said he was yet to be served.
Giving his testimony, former Senate Majority Leader, Senator Ali Ndume , who allegedly prevented the Mace bearer from carrying the Mace, denied the allegation.
