The People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Kogi State, has promised 45 percent participation for women in elective positions in the 2027 elections.
Muhammed Sanni Gambo, chairman of the party in the state, said this during a one day programme organised by Challenged Parenthood Initiative in partnership with Nigeria Civil Society Situation Room with the theme ‘Improving Inclusivity and Participation of Women in Electoral Processes in Kogi State’, adding that PDP had always given support to women, especially nomination forms free of charge.
He pointed out that they need a law to absorb more women in politics, stressing that the major challenge they are facing is integrity.
Speaking also, Aisha Adaranijo, lecturer at Federal University Lokoja, urged women to form pressure groups to support their folks in politics, pointing out that though finance has always been the stumbling block to women in politics, their little contributions will help them go a long way.

She equally pointed out that it is not an entitlement, but about bringing in more women in politics.
” I am not contesting for leadership, it is all about governance and women need their space through legislation. We need to critically engage and advocate our religious leaders and monarchs to give women space .Women must bring something to the table and advocate for changing the mind set about governance and let our husbands know that it’s about governance not leadership,” she said.
Also speaking, Idris Miliki, executive director, CHCR, urged governments at all levels to give appointments to women after elections because they are good leaders.
He charged women to continue to register in parties, attend meetings, and be familiar with the electoral processes.
