Kenyon International, a leading oil and gas service provider in Nigeria, has reaffirmed its commitment to innovation, youth empowerment, and continental collaboration, while showcasing breakthrough well intervention solutions at the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) Nigeria Annual International Conference and Exhibition (NAICE) 2025.
The company’s participation at the three-day conference, widely regarded as the country’s flagship energy event, underscored its dual strategy of developing next-generation leaders and strengthening its technical reputation in addressing industry emergencies.
Speaking at the Africa Young Professionals (AYP) Workshop themed “Empowering Africa’s Young Energy Leaders”, Victor Ekpenyong, Kenyon’s chief executive officer, called for stronger collaboration across the continent to unlock Africa’s energy potential.
“Africa has the talent and the resources; what we need now is unity of purpose. We need to work as a team, with East Africans, South Africans, and Central Africans. When we collaborate, we empower ourselves to become the next generation of energy leaders,” Dr. Ekpenyong said.

Highlighting Kenyon’s field expertise, he disclosed that the company had recently recovered over 6,000 barrels per day from a previously inaccessible well through emergency intervention. He also cited the successful deployment of its proprietary Sleep Lock technology, designed to stabilize collapsing drill holes, as proof of Kenyon’s growing reputation as a go-to provider for critical well emergencies.
“These achievements, birthed through collaborations, have positioned Kenyon as the primary point of contact for well emergencies, delivering solutions that save resources, reduce downtime, and strengthen national capacity,” Ekpenyong noted.
The AYP Workshop also featured insights from SPE International President, Olivier Houzé, who highlighted the growing role of artificial intelligence in reshaping the energy industry. He unveiled an SPEI-developed generative AI platform aimed at equipping young professionals with technical knowledge and business resources to navigate evolving industry challenges.
Beyond its technological contributions, Kenyon International has consistently invested in talent development, offering scholarships, technical workshops, and sponsorship of youth-driven initiatives to nurture Africa’s future energy workforce.
Industry observers say the company’s emphasis on both human capital and innovation reflects a forward-looking approach that aligns with Africa’s broader ambition to strengthen local capacity, reduce dependence on external expertise, and position the continent as a hub for energy solutions.
