Years ago, I attended her Open Mic Theatre and it was quite an interesting experience. One after the other, each slated participant took the stage to render their poems; others engaged us all in creative monologues and more.
Kemi Lala Akindoju is surely one talented young lady, steadily showing the world all there is to her through her outstanding skills.
So if you call her an actress, director, producer or emcee, you are completely correct. Kemi has featured in over 70 stage and film productions both locally and internationally. She was Actor of the Year at The Future Awards 2010 and holds a Masters Degree in Media and Communication from the Pan-African University.
Lala was part of the team of actors selected to perform at the Theatre Royale Stratford East as part of the cultural events at the cultural Olympiad during the London 2012 Olympics.
Lala is a member of the faculty at the Lufodo Academy of Performing Arts (LAPA) and she owns the The Make It Happen Productions, a company aimed at telling African stories through film, television and stage.
Dynamic Lala is a global shaper with the World Economic Forum but there is more to her as she has upped her game and has recently announced the details of her one woman show which will be opening at the Lagos Theatre Festival 2018, titled ‘NAKED’.
It is her first one woman show and she says “This is definitely a first on so many other levels for me but sometimes, the new things push us to the next level.”
“I’m more excited to be collaborating with some of the best people in this industry. I’m honoured and grateful for the opportunity to collaborate with these people especially because they are family. Like I always say, ‘Collaborations make dreams come alive quicker’” She said.
NAKED is written by Titilope Sonuga, Produced by Brenda Uphopho and Kemi Lala Akindoju and directed by Kenneth Uphopho.
The showtimes are Saturday March 3rd 2018, 7pm, Sunday March 4th 2018, 3pm and 7pm and the venue is Esther’s Revenge, Freedom Park, Lagos Island. Like they will say when announcing a movie, GO GET YOUR TICKET NOW!!!!
