The Kaduna Chamber of Commerce, Industries Mines and Agriculture (KADCCIMA), has appealed to the Kaduna State Government to reactivate the ailing industries in the state.
The KADCCIMA President, Dr Abdul Aliyu made the call during a courtesy visit on Gov. Nasiru El-Rufa’i on Tuesday in Kaduna.
Aliyu appealed to the State Government to resuscitate industries in the state to create employment opportunities for the youths and women.
“The State Government should reactivate some of our industries including the completion of the Kaduna International Airport.
“The government should also facilitate the completion and commissioning of Petroleum Institute around the Trade Fair Complex area.“
He appealed to the state to address the issue of multiple taxation, which was affecting members of the Organised Private Sector in the state.
The president stressed the need for the government to create other avenues for employment as a way of addressing youth restiveness in the state.
Aliyu urged the government to collaborate with the Bank of Agriculture and the Bank of Industry to provide soft loans to small and medium scale entrepreneurs.
He requested for a quarterly meeting with the government to avail it information on the sector.
“Our role is to compliment the activities of government toward promoting socio-economic development of the state and the country in general,“ he said.
Responding, Gov. Nasiru El-rufa’i said that the issue highlighted by the chamber would be addressed.
El-Rufa’i, represented by the State Deputy Governor, Mr Bala Bantex said that the state was facing financial challenges but assured that his administration would improve the state’s Internally Generated Revenue to finance its projects.
