Jigawa State government has presented a N75 billion supplementary budget to the State House of Assembly for consideration. The proposal, which is part of the 2025 Fiscal Year, covers both the state government and the 27 local government councils.
Sagir Musa Ahmed, Commissioner for information, youths, and sports, disclosed at the end of the state executive council meeting held at Government House, in the state Capital, Dutse, on Wednesday.
He explained that the supplementary appropriation arose from the additional revenue aimed at addressing emerging financial needs and strengthening priority sectors for sustainable development across the state.
Ahmed said the council approved N58 billion for the State government and N17 billion for the 27 local government councils, covering both recurrent and capital expenditure components.
He said the supplementary budget seeks to enhance ongoing projects and programs across critical sectors such as education, healthcare, infrastructure, agriculture, and other developmental projects.
“Provide fiscal support for new and unforeseen expenditure requirements, align public spending with current socio-economic realities and development targets”
Ahmed noted that the supplementary budget proposal will be formally submitted to the state house of assembly for legislative consideration and approval in accordance with constitutional provisions and budgetary procedures.
The Commissioner added that this move reflects the administration’s commitment to transparent governance, responsible fiscal management and the effective delivery of services
